I like getting people to hand over money for expensive stuff.Over the years I've noticed some funny patterns, and honestly I love this stuff. The psychology of it, the problem solving, figuring out what makes different people tick.Like how someone will walk in acting all confident about buying, then suddenly turn into a deer in headlights when it's time to actually pay.Or my personal favorite - the person who seems totally uninterested the whole time, then out of nowhere they're shoving their credit card at me.Turns out people are super predictable when it comes to spending money. They've got the same reasons for saying yes as they do for saying "let me think about it."I got obsessed with figuring out what was actually going on in their heads during those moments. What flips the switch from "maybe" to "absolutely" or from "this sounds great" to "I need to speak with my wife's brother's friend who has a business kinda like mine."That's what drew me to copywriting. It's like having that same conversation, except I get to hit rewind and make it even better.

I owned a cosmetology business for 4 years before getting back into sales.Both taught me that people appreciate when you actually hear them and don't turn everything into rocket science.I'd rather just have a normal conversation and figure out if we can actually help someone. Good copy should feel the same way, like you're talking to a friend who's been up all night googling the same stuff you are.I'm fascinated by what makes people actually pull the trigger. Like what gets someone to hand over their credit card to a person they just met or a brand they just discovered?Copywriting is just sales in pajamas. Same psychology, but I get to edit out all the "ums."
